Salty Kidz
In the heart of Avalon, on Sydney's Northern Beaches, tucked away next to Avalon Community Library in the Angophora Arcade, has sat a specialty kids store known as I Am Kidz Boutique. The store has been supplying shoppers with quirky and cute children's clothes, gift ware and accessories for the past 15 years.
Having lived in Avalon for some time, Nathan and Sasha naturally came across I Am Kidz when they had their first daughter, Selah, 4 years ago. They built a relationship with the stores founder, Jo, over the years and worked together for the first time on an counter for I Am Kidz store front.
Over the next couple of years the store progressed, adding ladies clothing to the department, a larger range of kids clothing, toys and accessories, I Am Kidz was ready to move forward. Having been a part of the progression, Jo and Sue wanted Mr & Mrs White to help the transition of I Am Kidz Boutique to what we now know as Salty. The update was to be a breath of fresh, salty air into the centre of Avalon, stepping up with a complete rebrand and revamp.
We created raw American oak angle brackets to support the glossy white rod and American oak middle shelf, the trademark triangle rack to match the the wall opposite, and an LVL feature wall behind the American oak counter focusing on lines and spacing. Finally adding The Box Chair and the very new Baby Box Chair to top it all off.
The I Am Kidz ocean parted and Salty was born.
You can find the new Salty store at:
55 Old Barrenjoey Rd, Avalon Beach NSW 2107.

Behind the Glass
If you've been to our Dee Why showroom, you may have noticed the big glass panel opposite the entrance. Behind the glass you'll find Mr White and his team at work, creating special pieces of furniture with their hands and with precision. For us here at Mr & Mrs White the phrase 'handmade' isn't just a tacked on, good looking phrase. We mean it.
As the end of the year approaches, the orders flow. The guys in the factory work hard to make sure everything looks and feels just right. Care, passion, a love of the craft, though not physically tangible, these are just a few things that our furniture is made out of. Then we add the timber.
As each piece takes shape, we hold a sense of satisfaction behind it, and when the final product finds its place into your home, we know you'll be satisfied too.
We always look forward to creating more, it's what we love.

Assembly Label Manly
Damien Horan and Dan Oliver started Assembly Label in 2011, in order to create desirable minimal basics for a coastal lifestyle. With their tireless efforts they broke into a saturated market by creating highly considered, functional, easy to wear products at realistic prices, while retaining premium quality. Learning a lot from their origin in menswear in their earlier years, 2014 was the year they branched out into the women’s market, all whilst adhering to their original ethos.
As the label was growing, so they were looking to create the milestone of their first flagship store in their local town of Bondi, New South Wales early 2015. This is where we come in. With first connection made through the social media giant, Instagram, the Assembly Label team enquired about a possible store fit out just over the bridge from us in Bondi. Loving the stuff they do, of course, we said yes.
Working together, we wanted to create a shopfront reflective of the minimalistic, coastal lifestyle that they clung to within their label. We met, discussed and designed all that could be… simple, functional and clean. Ash was the timber of choice, finished in a lime wash, complemented by flat white-coated plywood shelves and fixtures. The fit out accentuated the clothing and the clothing complimented the fit out, it was a match made in retail heaven.
Progressing from their Bondi store, the Assembly team were ready to raise another flag. This time they found a spot a bit closer to us on the Northern Beaches, a block back from the iconic Manly beach. We were thrilled to hear of their plan of the new store and it was only natural we agreed on getting involved again. Following similar aesthetics of the Bondi fit out, the team revamped a 1923 art deco building and we kept it flowing with the lime washed ash and white-coated plywood.
Having launched late October 2015 with the addition of a coffee sore inside, the new Assembly Label store in Manly organically fits the minimalistic, coastal lifestyle they’ve always carved out within their clothing. As always, it was a pleasure working with the Assembly team and we wish them all the best in their new store.
Assembly Labels new store is open every day and is located at 79-81 Pittwater Rd, Manly NSW.
